Minibb update with Summernote WYSIWYG editor

Instead of upgrading minibb to be able to accept inline pics and so on I decided to implement a different, open-source editor. I settled for Summernote as it had all the features I wanted and was FREE - no add-ons costing dosh. The steps I carried out were these ...

Step 1: I downloaded the script and uploaded 2 of the files referred to in Step 2 to my server

Step 2: I altered main-post-form html file found in the templates directory to this ...

View main-post-form.html text file

That is all it took for the template files but as the images files are stored in the database I made sure there was enough room in each post by first of all altering $post_text_maxlength found in setup-options.php to this ...

Step 3: $post_text_maxlength=100000;

Step 4: Last but not least I altered the database post table, post_text field to medium text as opposed to just text to allow for far more characters.

Everything seems to be working - along with the editing side of things.

Not come across this before but the above WYSIWYG editor saves pictures inside the database as code.  The picture below, for example, is stored as this code within the database ...

I have altered various files to cope with the extra data - see first post.

Decided to ditch this idea. As you can see the forum reply box is back to how it was originally. I now have the unenviable task of updating the forum software to allow such practice as image uploading etc. Quite a lot of work before all the add-ons I have planned for this forum are in place, especially so when there are so many stand alone forums. Thank goodness for TextWrangler is all can say .
